NCAA QB Roundup: Crist Reunited with Weiss, RG3 Player of the Year, USC Barkley to Return

Dayne Crist to be Reunited with Charlie Weiss

Ex-Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist will spend his final college year playing for ex-coach Charlie Weiss at Kansas.

After obtaining his release three weeks ago from Notre Dame, Crist announced his new school via Twitter today.

He?tweeted on his account @dcrist10, ?After a long & difficult decision making process, I?m incredibly excited to join the Kansas football team. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!?

Crist?s relationship with Weiss began when the coach recruited him out of Notre Dame (Calif.) High School. He then served as the backup quarterback?s coach for two seasons before Weiss was asked by Notre Dame to leave.

Lucky for Kansas, Crist has immediate eligibility because he has completed his undergraduate credits at Notre Dame prior to his eligibility running out. He will now enter graduate studies that aren?t offered at Notre Dame, according to ESPN.

Crist had a so-so career at Notre Dame and has been plagued by injuries; he was 4-6 as starter. He completed more than 58 percent of his passes for 2,327 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Robert Griffin III Named AP?s College Football Player of the Year

No surprise here but Baylor University quarterback and Heisman winner Robert Griffin III has been named AP?s College Football Player of the Year.

As the numerous interviews and article have shown Griffin or RG3 is a bright kid with a good personality. In the articles from his AP honor, Griffin says while he played football for years because he was good at it, standing on the sidelines in 2009, recovering from an injury, made him realize that he loved the game of football.

He recently said,??After a knee injury like that, a lot of times you see guys come back and it?s not the same,? Griffin said. ?So I didn?t want that to be attached to me, great player, got hurt, never was the same. ? My goal was to come back better, not only for myself, but for my teammates.?

The team suffered from a losing record that season and Griffin had a tough time just watching.

?You miss out making plays and doing great things,? Griffin said. ?I missed playing, I missed practicing, but you really just miss your teammates.?

The quarterback will take his team to the December 29 Alamo Bowl and try for the team?s 10th consecutive win. After that, Griffin will decide if he?ll return for his final year at Baylor or go pro.

Matt Barkley to Remain at USC?

Will he or won?t he enter the NFL draft was announced today by USC quarterback Matt Barkley: he is staying for his senior year.

Barkley had a stellar season this year, setting a Pac-12 conference record with 39 touchdowns. He also set numerous USC records including completion percentage and single-game records for touchdowns, completions, passing yardage and total offense.

In response to why he decided to stay, Barkley simply said,??I am staying so I can finish what I started.?
